Fair Trade Rice Speaker Tours
ENGAGE has organized interactive speaker tours that bring Thai and Indian farmers to the United States to develop connections between American consumers and the people who produce the food they eat, educate consumers about the realities of small-scale farmers and farming communities in the Global South. The tours also increase awareness about Fair Trade agricultural products for consumers, university groups, restaurant owners, institutional food suppliers, grocery store and cooperative managers, distributors, and importers, and generate tangible demand for Fair Trade rice.

As a direct result of the tours and the actions of ENGAGE members and allies, over ten new importer-producer relationships were initiated and five colleges and universities (to date) have committed to purchasing Fair Trade Jasmine rice.
