The 2008 ENGAGE Convergence is set for June 21-22nd, 2008 in Spartanburg, SC, located in the northwestern corner of South Carolina. In addition to time for you to report back and propose projects, the Convergence will include sessions on fair trade, sustainable agriculture, alternative and popular education, movement building, and organization building, along with skills-based training and exchanges with local communities and organizers – not to mention an evening bonfire with music and dancing!

In conjunction with ENGAGE, the Convergence is being hosted by SEEC (Spartanburg Educators for Empowered Communities), a network that creates local models of engaged education, wherein students, faculty, and community members work collectively to develop engaged citizens and build grassroots movements for positive change.

Schedule of Events
Most of the sessions will occur on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 (ending by 5:00pm), but activities will begin the evening of Friday, June 20.

Transportation and Lodging
Participants who are flying to the Convergence should plan to fly into Greenville-Spartanburg SC (GSP), Charlotte, NC (CLT), or Atlanta, GA (ATL) airports. Lodging will be dorm- or apartment-style housing at Wofford College.

Cost to Attend
Please note that while there is no cost to register for the Convergence, ENGAGE will be asking for a nominal contribution ($25-50) onsite to cover food and event costs. Payment may be made by cash or check payable to ENGAGE at the Convergence.

Registration
Please be sure to register online as soon as possible so that the event organizers can plan for your participation. Online registration will be availalble through June 15th.
